阿蘇五岳や外輪山など、世界最大級のカルデラ地形を駆け抜ける魅力的なコース
草原保全への貢献を大会のコンセプトとしており、参加費の一部が阿蘇の草原再生・維持活動のために寄付される
ロングコースの制限時間は29時間。ナイトパートがあるため、暗闇の中での安全な走行や、十分な睡眠と補給計画など長時間レースを想定した準備が必要
おにぎりや地元食材を使った温かい食べ物、フルーツなど地元食材を活かした補給食が提供される
コースに入る前の靴の消毒や、自然への負荷を軽減する為のストックの使用制限など、自然環境保護への深い配慮がある大会
