- 最澄上人の時代、比叡山に行けない僧侶が修行の場として坊を構えた岩根山・十二坊。現在は善水寺をはじめ湖南三山として知られ、歴史ある修行の道を駆け抜ける、神秘的なコースが大会の魅力
- トレイルランのコースは距離は短めですが、アップダウンのある山道があり、標高1600mと本格的な設定
- ウォークの部はタイムを競わず、歴史散策や絶景を楽しみながら歩く十二坊山頂絶景コースと歴史散策コースがある
- スタート・ゴール地点が、日帰り温泉施設「十二坊温泉ゆらら」。ゴール後はすぐに温泉で疲れを癒せるのも魅力のひとつ
