  • 大会名にあるように、宮古市の津軽石川は「鮭の川」として全国的にも有名
  • ゴール後には、郷土料理である鮭汁や鮭ご飯などが振る舞われる。新鮮な鮭がたっぷり入った鮭汁は疲れた体に染み渡り、疲労回復にもぴったり
  • 東日本大震災で大きな被害を受けた宮古市。2012年（第26回）大会でハーフマラソンは新たなコースを設定し復活された
  • 三陸の豊かな自然と地元住民やボランティアの温かいおもてなしが魅力
