- 最大の特徴は、周囲約43kmの洞爺湖をほぼ1周するコース設定
- フルマラソン以外にも10kmや5kmなどの種目があり、レベルや目的に応じて幅広いランナーが楽しめる
- メイン会場は洞爺湖温泉街のすぐそばにあり、レース後は源泉かけ流しの温泉で、疲れた体をゆっくりと癒やすことができる
- 札幌・新千歳空港から大会会場まで有料のバスが運行されており、アクセスも良好なため、観光を兼ねた旅ランにもおすすめ
