- つわぶきとは 日南市を代表する花である「ツワブキ」のことで11月頃に黄色い花を咲かせ、食用にもなる植物
- 地域に根ざした大会で、コースは比較的平坦で走りやすい
- 参加者には参加賞の他に、昼食や地元特産品も付いている
- 日南市は美しい海岸線、歴史的な街並みなど観光も一緒に楽しめる
- 2026年（第18回）大会から、未就学児童も参加できる1.5ｋｍファミリーと小学生の1.5ｋｍコースを新設
